at Cedar Lake Residences

Jose

Jose Full Fredrick "José" is 36 years old and has been with Cedar Lake since October 1994 when he began living at Cedar Lake Lodge. In 2007, Jose was given the opportunity to move into one of Cedar Lake Residences' staff residences and he has flourished.

José loves to go out into the community, especially if it involves riding in the car. In fact, José loves to ride in any vehicle, especially airplanes and roller coasters! He is very close to his family and travels with them on many vacations. His favorite place to go is to Puerto Rico to visit extended family.

José attends the Cedar Lake Enrichment Center and participates in all the activities that he possibly can. He enjoys anything related to large construction machinery and spent lots of time watching them out the window when the Oldham County library was being built next to the Center. When he is at home, José really enjoys watching his favorite TV program, "Cash Cab," with his house mates and his staff. If he's not watching his "show," you will probably find him outside on the patio admiring nature, or in his room listening to classical music and the oldies.

Gina

Gina Full

Gina is 41 years old and moved into a Cedar Lake Residences' staffed residence in 2008. Prior to coming to CLR, she lived at Cedar Lake Lodge for one year. Before that, she lived at home with her parents. Gina remains close with her family, and they have been very supportive of her opportunity to live in a staffed residence.

Gina was extremely quiet when she first moved in, but that has definitely changed. She is comfortable now telling you what she wants or needs and will even sit with you just to have a conversation.

Gina has also become much more independent. She has learned to fold her own laundry and helps with many other household chores. She gets herself ready in the mornings with very little assistance from her staff, then waits eagerly to head out the door to her day program at Cedar Lake Enrichment Center. She loves going out into the community, especially if there is going to be music or food involved.

Gina can always be counted on to greet you with a smile on her face and a friendly hello. You can't help but smile back!
