About Us

Cedar Lake Lodge: An Intermediate Care Facility for persons with Mental Retardation (ICF/MR) located at 3301 Jericho Road in LaGrange, KY. The Lodge is home to 87 adults, with an emphasis on serving individuals with the most severe and profound intellectual disabilities, those with medically complex diagnoses, dementia and co-occurring and behavioral disabilites.

The Lodge provides the highest level of residential care and services offered by Cedar Lake. Lodge residents generally have severe or profound mental retardation, have significant health issues, and require an intensive active treatment program designed to meet their individual needs.

• All Lodge residents have an intellectual disability as a primary diagnosis;

• More than 95% are persons with severe or profound mental retardation

• We only serve adults; the average age is about 50 years old
• More than 80% have a secondary diagnosis of mental illness in addition to mental retardation

• Depression, schizophrenia and anxiety disorders are the most common
• More than 50% require formal behavior management programs
• Autism impacts 16% of those served at the Lodge.

• More than 70% of the residents have medically complex diagnoses requiring significant nursing and medical interventions

• 40% are medically fragile and demand high-intensity nursing care
• Another 26% require moderate-intensity nursing care
• 39% have epilepsy/seizure disorders
• 28% are diagnosed with Down syndrome
• 32% require use of a wheelchair
• 7% use a walker to assist their movements

• Most residents have significant communication challenges

• 45% are non-verbal
• 16% require hearing aids
• 8% are legally blind
